Here we have the secret for continuing to be victorious in our walk with Christ. We are to continue as we began--in faith. We are to be rooted in Christ, built up in Christ, strengthened in faith, and overflowing with gratitude.

Everyone is looking for the secret of a happy and peaceful life. Some thought that the moment of conversion would provide a permanent fix for all internal ills. Life since that time has proven more difficult than anyone would have predicted.

Sometimes false hopes are sown by misguided advice. Teachers come up with a secret idea or "knowledge" that will deliver on the promise of peace and joy. People who started in faith move toward some other orientation for their lives.

The Apostle Paul has a fundamental prepositional phrase: "in Christ." He uses this term repeatedly, reinforcing each time the central idea of his manner of living in this world.

You may be surprised to learn where the victory actually occurred for you, and where it keeps on occurring. It's there, not just in the text, but in your heart. And it's all about the One who loved you enough to give his life on your behalf.
